Music in the Cosmos: Musicking the World

  • 01 Sep 2024
  • Retreats
  • £15
  • 10:00

This day of sound exploration will look at the place of music in our own and other cultures – differentiated both historically and geographically. It will include practical work, discussion, listening, creating and also explore the relationship between music, healing and spirituality. The spiritual experience through listening, performing and creating will be explored in detail, understanding how we relate to various musics and their healing potential through practical activities and discussion.

The retreat day will encourage participants to find and accept their own voice and its relationship with the wider world. It will examine digital tools for communicating with the plants. Additionally, we will explore communal improvising and singing together and also the shamanic use of the drum and drumming the five rhythms. The day will also set out and debate various theories of musicking as the stuff of the universe. Participants are encouraged to bring any instrument they have but this is not essential. Set in the Temple of Light at White Eagle Lodge, it will also include musicking in the environment. Open to everyone.
