Astrology Update

An update for 29th April 2024, by Patricia Godden

All but two of the planets are in a small section of the zodiac: a total of 69° of the 360° in the complete zodiac. The Moon and Pluto, associated with short- and long-term changes, respectively, are outside of this section. Changes in life continue and are an essential part of human evolution.

On 29th April, there is only one interaction with Jupiter, the conjunction with Uranus. Both planets are in Taurus. There is a persistent search for truth, not only in the philosophical sense but also to find new and original ways to use available resources. There might be greater willingness in society to accept unexpected changes that defy convention but make sense.

Also on 29thApril, Venus moves into Taurus, where it is harmoniously placed. For the next week there are four planets, the Sun, Venus, Jupiter and Uranus in this sign. This increases to five planets when the Moon passes through Taurus from 6th– 8th May. The strong emphasis on Taurus can relate to learning more about stability and security as well as the comfort of traditions.

There could also be much determination or even stubbornness. However, with Uranus, the planet of unexpected changes, still close to Jupiter standard ways of doing things might be challenged by novel or innovative ideas. This is an opportunity to look for a sense of inner security and the truth that is within even when normally accepted ideas are being questioned.

The new Moon on 8thMay is in Taurus emphasising the steady and practical nature of this sign. The new Moon interacts harmoniously with Saturn in Pisces. As Pisces is a water sign and Saturn relates to rules, old rules and regulations might be worn away in order to make room for new ones. The interaction between the new Moon and Saturn could also suggest that spiritual values may brought down to earth.

Mars moves into Aries on 30th April bringing an increase in dynamic energy and a desire to move things on. With Mercury also in Aries, there could be not only new and innovative ideas but also the motivation and drive to put them into action. This complements and balances the steady and solid energy that comes from having so many planets in Taurus.

Pluto in Aquarius stations on 2nd May and goes retrograde two days later. Pluto is retrograde for about five months every year so we have all lived with Pluto being retrograde many times. Issues that have been suppressed or hidden may surface in the coming months to be reformed. It can be a time to let go of what was thought to be necessary but deeper examination reveals that that is no longer the case.

On 3rd May, Neptune moves into the last degree of Pisces. This is also the last degree of the zodiac but it is worth remembering that life moves in cycles and the end of one cycle is the beginning of another one. The last degree of a sign can be associated with a sense of urgency and actions that may not have been sufficiently thought through. This is less so in the case of Neptune because it moves so slowly.

Neptune is in the last degree of Pisces for four months this year, including when it is retrograde, and for a short time in 2025. There could be urges to transcend boundaries. At one level, this might manifest in people moving from country to country. At another level, it might be seen as an upsurge in interest in spirituality, faith and belief systems.

It is possible that feelings may be more prominent while the Moon is close to Neptune for a few hours on 4thMay. The imagination may be heightened. This could be used by artists in their creative pursuits. Some people may benefit from a period of quiet time, perhaps alone, when they can process their thoughts and feelings. As Mars in Aries is also close to Neptune the quiet time could lead on to new actions.

From 9th – 13thMay, there is an interaction between Venus in Taurus, Saturn in Pisces and the south node of the Moon in Libra. The energy of Venus is strong as it is linked in different ways with all three signs. This can be interpreted as harmony, peace and love being fundamental in guiding the way forward as indicated by the north node of the Moon being in Aries.

Keep well, stay happy.
